Parallels RAS and AVD integration: clarify responsibilities first

The official RAS product introduction includes AVD integration directions, but specific deployment still requires checking the version, license and support scope. Integration does not mean that AVD resources, user identities, or all operational responsibilities are automatically provided by RAS.

First, identify the product line

Parallels RAS official description covers virtual application, desktop and remote PC delivery, and can be combined with different infrastructures. It's a different product than Parallels Desktop, which runs virtual machines locally on a Mac; organizations deploying RAS still need to arrange hosting resources, identity and software authorization.

Validate a small deployment before scaling up

First, draw the resource, management, and identity components separately to clarify who maintains the image, distributes applications, and handles user failures. The pilot uses representative tasks to verify release, expansion and data storage, and then arranges production switching. The function list is not directly regarded as a delivered solution.

Bringing the organization's desktop online is a business switch, not just installing the client. First select a group of representatives including ordinary office workers, heavy users of peripherals and different network conditions, and record the steps they take to complete the task. The pilot should clearly define the responsible person, work order entry, rollback plan and shutdown window; the acceptance criteria come from whether the work is completed, not how many functions are listed on the promotional page.

Divide problems into three categories: must be solved, acceptable, and need for subsequent optimization. For example, the core business system cannot be used due to online blocking, and the difference in a certain uncommon shortcut key may be solved through training. Before scale expansion, account recycling, patches, image updates, capacity, and backup and recovery must be checked. In particular, the manual firefighting methods in the pilot phase must not be regarded as long-term operation and maintenance processes.

Check each requirement for your task

Select representative pilot users and record real work tasks.
Set acceptance criteria, fault classification, support responsibilities, and fallback conditions.
Go online in batches after passing business and recovery verification, and keep problem tracking records.

The desktop pool cannot be estimated based only on the total number of people

Desktop pool planning should distinguish between registered users, simultaneous online users and the resources consumed by each person. Many people logging in occasionally versus a small number of people constantly using graphics software are different capacity issues. First collect working hours, typical applications and concurrency peaks, and then decide how to allocate desktops; do not regard the number of people that the sample deployment can carry as your own production capacity.

Where the conclusion applies and what to do next

Buying Mac local virtual machine software is not equivalent to buying a cloud PC, and the RAS client is not a separate cloud computing resources package.
